Cinnamon is one of the world's oldest spices, used for a variety of purposes in ancient Egypt and throughout the middle ages. It comes from the bark of the Laurel tree, which when dried, rolls into quills that can be used as sticks or ground into powder. Cinnamon is great for baking but can also be added to curries and stews, and brewed into teas or mulled wine.
